Barista Summary: As Barista you will strive to deliver an exceptional hospitality experience, acting as a beacon of coffee knowledge, and keeping service and coffee flowing in our busy café. You have a passion for specialty coffee, are knowledgeable about related products and equipment. You understand the fundamentals of coffee bar equipment and support the team with a desire to learn and provide the best service possible. Hospitality and service are important to you. Primary roles of the Barista:1. Coffee Bar leadership expectations Create a welcoming environment. Work quickly and efficiently. Engage positively with guests. Maintain open communications with teammates. Understand coffee/espresso extraction principles. Understand milk steaming and drink building. Follow recipes to prepare drinks upholding high quality standards. Commit to sensory development. Cleaning equipment such as espresso machine and grinders Maintain proper rotation and dating of prepared food items. Follow HACCP guidelines to ensure food quality and safety. Complete other duties as assigned by management. Merchandising. Opening and closing procedures. 2. Continue a culture of teamwork and collaboration that supports the overall store culture. Model and apply the employee handbook and code of conduct equitably. Teach, mentor, and inspire (and be inspired by) all cafe employees. Respond proactively and positively to challenges in production. Maintain professionalism with attire and enforce team hygiene standards. Help build and maintain positive relationships between the back and front of the house. 3. Facility Maintenance: The aesthetic and overall cleanliness and condition of the coffee bar and storage areas is an essential part of our customer & employee experience. As a Barista, you are responsible to: Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of your work station, including and not limited to store room, refrigerators, trashroom, etc. Work with the Lead to ensure all coffee equipment is cleaned and serviced regularly. Ensure that the facility is both clean and in compliance with health department requirements. Team member qualities: Honesty and integrity A passion for work and knowledge of food and beverage. A strong and committed work ethic with an ever-present enthusiasm. A true team player with the ability to lead an entire team and take pride in teaching others. A proactive leader always going above and beyond. An eye for detail, cleanliness, and organization. Ability to multitask under pressure with a smile. Humility and the constant desire to learn and seek improvement. Ability to make appropriate decisions in adverse situations Willingness to question, bring ideas to the table, and to make changes to be the best we can be. Requirements: Previous coffee, hospitality, or food service experience. Demonstrate a passion for coffee and tea. Maintain a current Serv-Safe or equivalent Food handlers’ certificate. Availability to work shifts, early mornings, evenings, public holidays, and weekends. On occasion you may be required to work more than 40 hours per week as required. Ability to lift 40 Lbs. Accurate cash handling skills. Repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, climbing, pulling, pushing, lifting, and grasping. Compensation: Our goal is complete and total customer satisfaction. But to effectively care for our customers, we must first care for ourselves. That all starts by supporting our employees with a living wage, training and support, professional development, health, and well-being. Compensation: Starts at $20.00/hr.
